Kreiss was founded by Murray Kreiss and his two sons Norman and Howard, in 1939, initially importing novelties and ceramic wares from Japan.  Norman and his wife Eileen expanded the company by including goods sourced from Spain, Hong Kong, China and Thailand in the early 1960s.  Unfortunately Murray died early, leaving his young sons to continue the business.  Tragically, one of the sons, Howard, was killed over Japan in 1958, leaving Norman alone to run the company.  In 1966, Kreiss opened its first showroom on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood.  In 1972 they took a different direction, Kreiss inaugurated in-house furniture manufacturing and upholstery operations.   Today, Kreiss is a four-generation family owned and operated luxury home furnishings company.
